Conduct Policy
Our games may include adult themes, as well as verbal and physical conflict such as larp combat and consensual stage fighting. We expect all participants to accept full personal responsibility for their actions, and to adhere to our code of conduct at all times. Excuses such as intoxication or claiming actions were in-character are not accepted. Please note that the spirit and intent of the guidelines is as important as the wording.
Fakelore Games reserves the right to refuse ticket sale and revoke access to the event and social media channels at any point, for any length of time and for any reason.
It is of utmost importance to us that all attendees feel safe at our events.
Warnings and Bans
Minor misconduct will result in a warning, where continuation of that behaviour towards any attendee will cause the perpetrator to be banned from attending Fakelore Games events. Breaking game mechanics will result in temporary bans, but misconduct will always be permanent.
Examples of minor misconduct primarily include instances where the target of the misconduct is comfortable for the perpetrator to remain on site if that behaviour is not shown again.
Major misconduct resulting in removal from a venue mid-event voids the right for a refund for that ticket.
Discrimination
The following themes will be considered to be off-limits at any event that we run; do not make reference to, or roleplay around, the following themes.
- Discrimination based on a player’s out-of-character attributes
- Miscarriage and stillbirth
- Non-consensual sex, including forced pregnancy
- Sex or romance involving minors
Any themes not listed here that may cause distress will be clearly signposted, and a warning included in the event’s details.
Sexual Misconduct
Sexual misconduct and harassment is entirely unacceptable and will not be tolerated at our events.
It can generally be considered to be any pattern of repeated and unwelcome sexual advances, including but not restricted to:
- Sexual comments, teasing, jokes or comments on appearance or behaviour.
- Creating an overly sexualised environment, for example by maintaining sexual conversation when individuals have asked for the topic to be changed.
- Pressure for personal interaction with a sexual or romantic intent.
- Unwelcome hugging, touching, groping, or any other unwanted physical contact.
To reiterate an earlier point: attempts to justify the behaviour as in character will not be accepted.
Alcohol, Smoking, and Drugs
Anyone found to be so drunk or intoxicated that they are incapable of continuing to roleplay in a safe, responsible fashion will be asked to leave the in-character area until they have sobered up.
It is unacceptable to use any illegal intoxicating substances at our events. We reserve the right to ask any participant who is using illegal substances to immediately leave the event venue without a refund, in addition to reporting it to the authorities.
Each venue will have specific policies on smoking and vaping, which may limit it to specific areas. Cigarette butts must be disposed of responsibly.
